PS Passport Stamps

Support

There's no ticketing system or support team, just the person who builds the app. Questions go by email; bug reports and feature requests have a short form in the app (Settings → Report a Bug or Idea).

Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?

In your own private iCloud account, synced through Apple's CloudKit. Passport Stamps has no server of its own — there's nowhere else for your data to be. See the privacy policy for the full details.

How do I delete my data?

In the app, open Settings and choose Delete All Data. It removes every location and trip map, and asks you to type DELETE to confirm because it can't be undone. Consider using Export Backup first. Your purchase and trial aren't affected.

Sync works both ways, so deleting in the app also removes the data from your private iCloud and your other devices. It isn't a one-way backup. Trip maps you've shared stop being shared, but if you leave a map someone else shared with you, their own copies of its locations aren't deleted.

To clear the iCloud copy without the app (for example after deleting it), use Apple's iCloud storage management: Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Account Storage, Passport Stamps (on a Mac, System Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage). There's no separate server copy to worry about — see the privacy policy.

Does Passport Stamps work offline?

Yes. Your map, locations, notes, and photos are stored locally on your device (via SwiftData) and sync to iCloud in the background whenever you have a connection. You can add and edit locations with no network at all — they'll sync once you're back online.

How does sharing a TripMap work?

A TripMap is a named group of locations — "Family Vacations," for example. Tap Share on a TripMap to invite people by link; everyone you invite can add and edit locations on that map, and changes sync to everyone automatically. Sharing uses Apple's CloudKit sharing directly between iCloud accounts, so it doesn't cost you or your collaborators anything, and it isn't routed through a server we operate.

Someone I invited can't see the shared map. What's wrong?

Double-check they accepted the invite link on a device signed into iCloud. If "last edited by" badges show a generic name instead of their name, that's usually because they haven't turned on iCloud account discoverability in their iPhone's Settings — the app can't change that on their behalf.

Why does a state or province I added look like a rough rectangle?

Every country is drawn with its real border. State and province shapes are real for 24 countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the four countries of the United Kingdom. For states and provinces elsewhere, Apple's map search doesn't provide border data, so a small placeholder shape is drawn instead. More countries may be added in future updates.

How does the map handle disputed borders and territories?

Country and state shapes come from Natural Earth, which records de facto borders. Taiwan, Kosovo, Western Sahara, Palestine, Northern Cyprus and Somaliland are drawn as their own areas; including a place doesn't imply a political position. The base map is Apple Maps, which applies its own regional border rules, so its lines and the colored fills can differ in disputed areas such as Kashmir and Crimea. Is there a cost to use Passport Stamps?

The app is free to download and try for 14 days. During the trial you can add locations and keep one TripMap. After that, a single one-time purchase unlocks the app for good: unlimited locations, unlimited shared TripMaps, and sync across your devices. There is no subscription. If you don't unlock, nothing you've already added is hidden or deleted; you can still view and export it, you just can't add more. Sharing a TripMap with family is free for everyone you invite, because it runs through each person's own iCloud account rather than a server we pay to host.

Can I back up or export my data?

Yes. Settings has Export Backup and a matching restore option, and Print Studio exports your map as an image or PDF.

Are the UNESCO and National Parks lists complete?

No. Curated Collections are a selection of sites from the UNESCO World Heritage List and the U.S. National Park Service's list of national parks, and coordinates are approximate. Passport Stamps is not affiliated with or endorsed by UNESCO or the National Park Service.

How do I report a bug or ask for a feature?

In the app, open Settings and choose Report a Bug or Idea; it opens a short form in your browser. Screenshots and steps to reproduce are always appreciated. You can also email ehjerpe@hjerpefamily.net.
